Ndidi in action as Brentford thrash Leicester City
Leicester City’s struggles continued on Friday night as they were thrashed 4-0 by Brentford at the King Power Stadium, deepening their crisis in the Premier League. The Foxes’ latest loss marked an unwanted record, as they became the first team in Premier League history to suffer six consecutive home defeats in a single season without scoring a goal.
One of the few bright spots for Leicester was Wilfred Ndidi, who started and played 77 minutes in his third appearance since returning from a two-month layoff due to a hamstring injury. His minutes have been carefully managed following his long absence, but despite his efforts, the team couldn’t capitalize on the early momentum.
Brentford, who had to absorb some early pressure from Leicester, took control of the match in the 17th minute with Yoane Wissa’s header. Just minutes later, Bryan Mbeumo’s clinical strike doubled their lead before Christian Nørgaard added a third in the 32nd minute with a free header from a corner.
Leicester’s defense faltered again in the 89th minute when Fábio Carvalho pounced on a rebound to score Brentford’s fourth.
Ndidi, who had also played 57 minutes in Leicester’s recent loss to Manchester United and 85 minutes against Arsenal, could not prevent his side from falling to their tenth loss in 11 matches. Fans voiced their frustration with loud boos at the final whistle, signaling growing discontent with the team’s poor form.
Despite Ndidi’s return to fitness, Leicester’s season is quickly slipping into disarray, and the road ahead looks even more challenging for the struggling former champions.
