Ndidi shines as Leicester pile more misery on champions Liverpool
Alisson culpable in second game running
Nigeria and Leicester City midfield anchor, Wilfred Ndidi put up a masterful performance as his team, Leicester City came from behind to defeat the champions, Liverpool at the King Power Stadium in their English Premier League matchday 24 clash.
Ndidi was impressive at the base of the Leicester City midfield, making 19 ball recoveries, the most by any single player in any match in the Premier League this season. He also made the assist for the third goal when his pass to English winger, Harvey Barnes ended with Barnes finding the bottom corner with a shot to make it 3-1. Liverpool took a 78th minute lead when some fancy footwork from Brazilian striker, Roberto Firmino teed up Mohamed Salah who curled one into the far corner. Leicester came back roaring and were awarded a penalty which was overturned as the infringement had taken place outside the box, and James Maddison fired in the freekick through a crowd of bodies to equalise for Leicester. Five minutes later, Leicester took the lead after a long ball by Youri Tielemans was completely misjudged by Liverpool keeper, Alisson who clattered into debutant centre back, Ozan Kabak to allow Leicester striker, Jamie Vardy roll the ball into an unguarded net.
Liverpool have all but given up the crown they won so brilliantly last season, as they currently have 30 points less than their 70 points at this stage last season. They have now lost three consecutive games in the Premier League for the first time since 2014, and face a real chance of dropping out of the top four with fifth placed Chelsea only 1 point behind them. Leicester move up to second on 46 points, 6 more than Liverpool.
