Ndidi Urges Teammate Uduokhai to Play for Super Eagles

Super Eagles vice-captain Wilfred Ndidi has encouraged his Beşiktaş teammate, German-born defender Felix Uduokhai, to switch nationality and play for Nigeria.
Uduokhai, 28, is an experienced centre-back who has played for top German clubs, including 1860 Munich, Wolfsburg and Augsburg. Many believe he would be a strong addition to the Super Eagles, especially as older defenders like William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi are nearing the end of their international careers.
A playful video shared on social media shows Ndidi trying to convince Uduokhai to join the Nigerian team. Smiling into the camera, Ndidi said, “Come and play for Nigeria. Centre-back, we want centre-back.”
Uduokhai, laughing, replied in Pidgin English, “How much?” Ndidi burst into laughter and told him, “If you want money, just don’t bother – just stay.”
Although Uduokhai has played for Germany at youth level and was called up to the senior team in 2020, he never made an appearance. This means he is still eligible to represent Nigeria. He has also said in the past that he would consider playing for the Super Eagles if the right opportunity comes.
Even if Ndidi’s friendly appeal works, Uduokhai will not take part in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. Coach Eric Chelle has already released a provisional squad, and the defender is not included.
Both Ndidi and Uduokhai recently became teammates at Beşiktaş and have built a strong bond in the dressing room. Their connection has sparked fresh excitement among Nigerian fans hoping Uduokhai will one day choose to wear the green and white.
