Ndifreke Effiong seals move to Al-Ahli Benghazi

NPFL joint top scorer joins Libyan side on a three and a half year deal

Akwa United captain and striker, Ndifreke Effiong Udo has completed a transfer from the NPFL outfit to Libyan side, Al Ahli Benghazi after he signed a three and a half year contract with the Libyan side.

Effiong, who is joint top of the NPFL scoring charts with 8 goals in 18 matches in the first stanza of the 2020/21 NPFL season now joins the Libyan side as they look to bolster their ranks, having been dumped out of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup in a group containing NPFL side, Enyimba.

Effiong helped Akwa United reach third place in the NPFL in the first stanza of this season, and will be sorely missed by the Promise Keepers as they push for titles. He joins influential midfielder, Morice Chukwu in moving away from Akwa United after a stellar first half of the season.
