Neymar’s Return to Brazil Delayed Again After Injury Setback

Brazil’s hopes of seeing Neymar back in the famous yellow shirt have been delayed once more after the country’s all-time top scorer suffered another injury.

Neymar was set to make his long-awaited comeback for Brazil’s national team, but he has now pulled out of the squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.

Neymar Withdraws from Brazil Squad

Even though Neymar was named in head coach Dorival Júnior’s 23-man squad, the Santos forward has not recovered from a thigh injury. This has ended hopes of his return to international football for now.

Fans were excited when Neymar’s name appeared on Brazil’s squad list, but their joy didn’t last long.

In a video shared by the Brazilian Football Federation, Dorival Júnior confirmed that Neymar, along with Danilo and Ederson, were not fit enough to play.

“After the medical checks, Neymar Jr., Danilo, and Ederson are still recovering with their clubs,” Dorival Júnior said. “So, they will not be ready to represent Brazil in the next FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.”

Real Madrid’s Endrick Called Up

Neymar had already missed Santos’ match against Corinthians last weekend. He was seen trying to warm up before sitting down again, looking uncomfortable.

With Neymar ruled out, Real Madrid’s young striker Endrick has been called up to replace him in the squad. Alex Sandro and Lucas Perri will take the places of Danilo and Ederson.

Neymar’s last game for Brazil was in October 2023 against Uruguay. During that match, he suffered a serious ACL injury and has been working hard to recover ever since. However, more injuries have delayed his return.

Now, the June qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay are seen as the next chance for Neymar to return to the Brazil team.

Until then, Brazil will rely on Raphinha, Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior, and Endrick to lead their attack in two key matches against Colombia and Argentina.

With Brazil struggling in the Conmebol World Cup qualifying table, fans are hoping the young players can step up in Neymar’s absence.
