NFF denies new Super Eagles jerseys for AFCON 2023
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding the launch of new Nike jerseys for the Super Eagles ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
Reports surfaced on Friday morning suggesting that the NFF had unveiled new jerseys for the Eagles to be worn during the AFCON tournament in Côte d’Ivoire.
The NFF, in a statement released on its official handle, dismissed these reports and clarified that there is no new jersey being launched for the Super Eagles for the upcoming AFCON.
The statement addressed the rumors about a collaboration between Nike and the national team, making it clear that such claims are untrue.
“Rumours about a new jersey launch between NIKE and the senior men’s national team circulating round social media has been brought to our notice. We want to inform the general public that this claim is not true.
“At the moment, we have no jersey being launched for the Super Eagles for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to hold in Côte d’Ivoire next month,” NFF concluded.
The Super Eagles are placed in Group A alongside hosts Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau for AFCON 2023. The tournament is scheduled to commence on January 13, 2024, and will conclude on February 11, 2024. Nigeria will kick off their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea on January 14, 2024.
