NFF Denies Reports of Eric Chelle’s Contract Demands

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports claiming Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle asked for a new contract worth $130,000 per month and several extra benefits.
Speculation about Chelle’s future intensified after Nigeria finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Some reports suggested the Malian coach had made wide-ranging demands during contract talks with the federation.
According to journalist Shina Oludare, Chelle, who is believed to earn about $50,000 per month, was said to have requested a major salary increase. The reports also claimed he wanted new contracts for members of his technical crew and his personal assistant.
Other alleged demands included a chauffeur-driven vehicle, secure accommodation with constant electricity, and a fully equipped office for technical analysis. Chelle was also reported to have asked for business-class flights for himself and his wife, economy tickets for his children, and greater control over friendly matches, training camps and youth development programmes.
However, NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, denied knowledge of such requests.
“Sincerely, I am not aware,” Olajire told Leadership Newspaper.
Chelle has attracted interest from several clubs and national teams following Nigeria’s recent performances, which has fuelled debate about his long-term future with the Super Eagles.
