Ngozi Okobi reacts to omission from Super Falcons World Cup squad
Super Falcons forward Ngozi Okobi has reacted to her omission from Nigeria’s 23-player list for the 2023 FIFA Women Cup to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The Nigeria Football Federation – NFF on Friday morning released list of 23 Falcons called up by head coach Randy Waldrum for the 2023 World Cup.
Ngozi Okobi’s name was conspisiously missing from the list, with fans and opinion makers worried over the reason for her exclusion from the squad.
The Levante Las Planas of Spain forward has now stepped forward with her reaction to the decision to exclude her from the World Cup squad.
In a tweet on her Twitter handle at about 2;49pm on Friday June 16, an expectedly disappointed Ngozi Okobi shared images of herself in a gym on Nigeria’s training kits with the caption ” Give thanks to God in all. Thank you Jesus.”
That post offered her followers opportunity to express their surprise over her omission from the Super Falcons squad for the Women’s World Cup and the 29-year old took time to offer her reaction.
A curious @DaddyTeniola asked “Are you injured? Cos that’s the only reasonable justification to you not being on that list ?. Ngozi in swift response wrote “No, I am not [injured]. I am physically sound and healthy.”

Expectedly, Supper Falcons Head Coach Randy Waldrum will get opportunity to explain reason for the forwards omission when he faces the press.
Until then, the 23 invited players will brace up as NFF unveils plans to get the team in shape for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup which gets underway on July 20 and runs till August 20, 2023.
Nigeria will face tournament co-hosts Australia, Canada and Ireland in group A.
