Nigeria 3 Seychelles 1: Rohr rates Eagles performance against Pirates in Asaba

Super Eagles headcoach Gernot Rohr has rated his players performances in their AFCON qualifier dead rubber clash against Pirates of Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Friday.

Nigeria defeated Seychelles 3-1 in their last group game to top the group after the have already qualified for the 2019 AFCON to be hosted in Egypt this June.

Super Eagles were not at their very best on the day but Gernot Rohr revealed that his boys got the job done despite their poor display and individual errors.

“We did the job as we wanted to win the game and finish top of our group, which is important for our FIFA ranking and the draw for the AFCON,” Rohr said after the win over The Pirates of Seychelles.

“But there were a lot of mistakes in our build-up, we have to improve.

“I also saw some interesting players. It was good to see the players after four months.”

Rohr explained why it was difficult it was for Eagles to break the deep defensive set up of the Pirates of Seychelles on Friday.

“We knew it would be a difficult game because they were not the same team, they brought seven new players.

“They defended and so we had to attack them from the wings.”

Nigeria next play Egypt in an international friendly on Tuesday at the same venue.
