Nigeria AFCON squad: Moffi to replace injured Victor Boniface
France-based Terem Moffi has been called-up to replace injured Victor Boniface in Nigeria’s AFCON squad. SportsRation reports .
This invitation will seek approval of both CAF and the French Ligue 1 club of Moffi, OGC Nice with the forward previously overlooked from the 25-man list.
Moffi is expected to join the Eagles in Cote d’Ivoire, this is pending approval from CAF and release of the player by his French club.
The Super Eagles spokesman, Babafemi Raji confirmed the news with a social media post on Tuesday, January 9; “Victor Boniface is out and Terem Moffi takes his place pending approval of CAF and concurrence of his club.”
Victor Boniface will now fly back to Germany where Bayer Leverkusen medics will take care of the groin injury sustained in training that will sideline him for several weeks.
Meanwhile, the invitation of Terem Moffi will come as a huge blow for OGC Nice.

Recall that the French club celebrated his omission from the Super Eagles of Nigeria 25-man AFCON squad, with his coach even describing the striker as his team’s “best new signing” of the transfer window after they had resigned themselves to losing him for the continental tournament.
