Nigeria and Ghana to share Hotel for AFCON group stage
As the countdown to the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) continues, the Local Organising Committee has started allocating facilities to the participating teams.
In an interesting development, arch-rivals Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Ghana’s Black Stars are slated to share accommodations at the Five-Star Pullman Hotel in Abidjan, according to updates from the organizers.
Both the Super Eagles and the Black Stars will be based in Abidjan for their group-stage matches.
Nigeria is placed in Group A alongside Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau, and host Ivory Coast, with their matches scheduled at the Alasanne Quatara Stadium in Ebimpe.
Ghana’s Black Stars, in Group B, will face Mozambique, Egypt, and Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, also in Abidjan.
The decision to have both teams stay at the Five-Star Pullman Hotel adds an intriguing element to their encounters, enhancing the atmosphere of the much-anticipated rivalry.
The teams’ accommodations and other facilities will be adjusted based on their progress in the competition.
This arrangement sets the stage for an intense and closely watched AFCON, not only on the field but also in the shared spaces of the Pullman Hotel as the teams vie for continental glory.
