Nigeria could draw Egypt, Cameroon, *Ghana in the play-off – do Eagles have a chance?

The stage is set for the final qualifying round for 2022 World Cup as Nigeria and 9 other African nations book their places.

Om Tuesday, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Algeria joined the seven nations who already made it to the last round.

Senegal, Mali, Egypt, Morocco were the first four teams to book their play-off places.

Ghana, DR Congo, Tunisia, Nigeria Cameroon, and Algeria completed the pool.

The last qualifying round will see the top five highly ranked teams (Senegal, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Nigeria) seeded.

While the other nations outside the top five (Egypt, Cameron, Mali, Ghana, and DR Congo) will be drawn against the seeded teams.

This means Nigeria could draw any of Egypt, Cameron, Mali, Ghana and DR Congo.

The draw will take place on the 18th of December 2021 while the matches will start in March 2022.

The play-off will be played in a home and away format with the 5 aggregate winners picked to represent Africa at the World Cup in Qatar.

Do these Eagles stand a chance against any of the top teams?

Meanwhile, The South African Football Association has dragged CAF and Ghana to FIFA following their 1-0 defeat to the Black Stars.

Bafana Bafana are protesting the penalty given to Ghana which was the decider of the game and have also cited poor officiating.

They are hoping they get a rematch and this puts Ghana’s qualification under check.
