Nigeria finish 2025 38th in FIFA Rankings
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have finished the year unchanged in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, retaining 38th place globally in the December 2025 update released on Monday, 22 December 2025.
The Super Eagles did not record any competitive international fixtures since the previous ranking, which means their points total remained at 1,502.
Within Africa, Nigeria remains fifth on the continent. They follow Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria. Morocco leads African teams at 11th in the world after their excellent performance at the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, while Senegal is ranked 19th globally. Algeria and Egypt occupy 34th and 35th positions, respectively, with Nigeria following closely at 38th.
Other African teams in the continental top 10 are Tunisia at 41st, Côte d’Ivoire at 42nd, Mali at 53rd, DR Congo at 56th, and Cameroon at 57th in the global rankings.
At the top of the world rankings, Spain continues to lead after reclaiming first place earlier in the year. Argentina sits second, while France is third. England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia complete the rest of the top 10, with no changes from the previous ranking.
The December 2025 ranking, which is the final edition of the year, is based on 42 international matches played worldwide. Morocco was among the major beneficiaries, moving within 0.54 points of breaking into the global top 10 for the first time since April 1998.
For Nigeria, attention is now shifting to how future competitive fixtures can translate into upward movement in 2026 Ranking.
