Football fans have condemned the invitation of Odion Ighalo over in-form Taiwo Awoniyi for Super Eagles qualifiers.
Head coach Gernot Rohr released a 24-man squad for the games against Liberia and Cape Verde this month.
And just as he said Odion Ighalo who retired from the International football in 2019 has been recalled.
His recall was however, at the removal of Taiwo Awoniyi who is one of the most inform strikers in Europe currently.
Odion Ighalo is currently doing fine in Saudi Arabia scoring 9 goals in 10 league games.
But that tally is nothing compared to Taiwo Awoniyi who has 7 goals in 10 league games in Bundesliga a far stronger league compared to the Saudi Arabian league.
To put this into perspective, 1 goal scored in Bundesliga is almost valued as 4 goals scored in Saudi Arabia.
This is to say Ighalo’s tally is just 2.5 goals in Bundesliga.
And this has led to fans voicing their opinions over the invitation.
