Nigeria Lose African and National U-20 Records After Relay Disqualification

Nigeria have been stripped of the African and national U-20 records in the mixed 4x100m relay after the team was disqualified at the World Athletics U-20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The quartet of Tejiri Godwin, Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo, Perfect Faye and Miracle Ezechukwu clocked 41.77 seconds to finish fourth, but the result was later cancelled after officials found that Faye used unauthorised spikes.
The time had initially been recognised as both an African and Nigerian U-20 record.
Ezechukwu produced an impressive 9.89-second anchor leg to move Nigeria from seventh to fourth before the disqualification.
Italy won gold in a world U-20 record of 41.21 seconds, ahead of Great Britain and the United States.
