Nigeria missed ‘big player’ Osimhen – Koulibaly
Senegal captain and history chasing Kalidou Koulibaly has revealed that Nigeria really missed big player Victor Osimhen.
France-born Kalidou Koulibaly who could be become the first captain to lead the Teranga Lions of Senegal to their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations title revealed this.
Koulibaly who is one of Napoli’s captains, Victor Osimhen’s Italian club knows the Nigerian striker very well and rightfully access his absence in the Nigerian team.
The only consistent comment by many who watched the Super Eagles against Egypt, Sudan, Guinea-Bissau, and most especially against Tunisia was that Victor Osimhen’s absence was felt.
With him in the team maybe Nigeria will be playing in the final against Egypt and Koulibaly confirmed this in his interview.
“He’s (Osimhen) a big player with great attitude and force which could have helped the Eagles.
“Many teams were scared of them with the way they started but were unlucky against Tunisia.”
Nigeria has since been eliminated from the competition with Senegal and Egpyt set to play in the final on Sunday while Burkina Faso and hosts Cameroon play for Bronze on Saturday.
Should Kalidou Koulibaly lead the Teranga Lions to the title, he becomes the first winning captain and etched his name in the history books.
