Nigeria qualifies for 2025 ICC under-19 Women’s World Cup
Nigeria has been crowned the winner of the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup Africa Qualifiers and will represent Africa at the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup in Malaysia. The Nigerian team earned their spot after their final match in Kigali, Rwanda, against Zimbabwe was called off due to rain.
Nigeria finished the tournament unbeaten, topping their group and being declared winners based on their outstanding performance throughout the competition.
The President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Uyi Akpata, praised the team’s dedication and hard work. He thanked the players, board members, coaches, and technical team for their efforts in securing this victory.
“We need more resources and a solid plan to succeed at the World Cup,” Akpata said, stressing the importance of preparing well for the global stage.
Nigeria’s qualification journey included victories over Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and a crucial semifinal win against hosts Rwanda. The team is now focused on their upcoming challenge in Malaysia, where the World Cup will take place from January 18 to February 2, 2025.
