Nigeria secure #Afrobasketwomen ‘three-peat’ with win against Mali
Adaora Elonu named tournament's MVP
Nigeria women’s basketball team, D’Tigress have claimed their third Afrobasket women title with a 70-59 win against Mali on Sunday.
D’Tigress led by Adaora Elonu were too good for all their opponents in Cameroon enroute their three-peat.

Victoria Macaulay and Ezine Kalu led in two different categories on the night as Nigeria beat Mali to the title.
Victoria Macaulay led in points and blocks with 15 and 3 respectively.
Ezine Kalu led in assists and steals with 4 each while Ify Ibekwe rebounded the ball 10 times.
The win makes it 5th Afrobasket women titles after wins in 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019 and 2021.
Nigeria’s three-peat is just the second in the tournament history, Senegal who won im 1974, 1977, 1979 and 1981 were the first to achieve the feat.
For the third time in a row, a Nigerian was named the most valuable player of the tournament after Adaora Elonu was given the award.
In the past, Evelyn Akhator, Ezinne Kalu have won the awards in 2017, and 2019 respectively.
