Nigeria set to miss two players for 2025 AFCON qualifiers vs Rwanda
Nigeria’s Super Eagles could be missing at least two key players in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda on Monday.
The team returned to Nigeria on Friday afternoon after playing to a 1-1 draw against Benin Republic. Despite this draw, the three-time African champions secured their spot in the tournament ahead of schedule, thanks to Libya’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda, ensuring Nigeria’s qualification before their final match.
However, coach Augustine Eguavoen will need to adjust his lineup, as defender Ola Aina has returned to the UK and it remains unclear why he did not travel back with the team.
In addition, first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is expected to miss the clash after confirming the loss of his father on Thursday via his Instagram account. As the Super Eagles prepare for this crucial encounter, the absence of these two players may impact their performance as they aim to finish the qualifying series on a high note.
