Nigeria U-23 v Guinea U-23: Salisu unsure if Orban will honour invitation
Salisu Yusuf is unsure if Gift Orban will honour his invitation to play for the Nigeria U23 team against Guinea U-23 this week.
The Olympic team play Guinea U-23 over two legs to book in place at the U-23 AFCON where the African representatives for the 2024 Olympics will be picked.
A few days ago, Gift Orban’s name was included in the 30-man invitees for the double-header against Guinea U-23 but the inform Nigerian forward might not get his international debut this week.
“Yeah, we sent an invitation to Gift Orban,” Salisu told BSN Sports.
“I think I scouted him since he was playing for his former club before he joined Gent. I think he is doing very well. We sent an invitation and up till now, we are yet to receive any response from his club.”
“True, I am not sure because up till now there is no news either from him or the club on whether he is coming tomorrow but we knew that the invitation has reached his club,” said Salisu when asked if Orban will play against Guinea.
The first leg is billed for Abiola National Stadium, Abuja from 4 pm on Wednesday, 22nd March, with the return set for the Complexe Sportif Prince Heritier Moulay Al Hassan from 7 pm Morocco time on Tuesday, 28th March.
