Nigeria Vs Sao Tome and Principe: A’Ibom state Govt expresses readiness to host qualification match
Akwa Ibom state Government has held a technical meeting ahead of this weekend’s AFCON 2024 qualification match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Falcons and True Parrots of Sao Tome and Principe which is scheduled for Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

Speaking at the meeting, Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, noted that the meeting was part of Government efforts to put together a hitch-free football match and thanked the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Pastor Umo Eno, for accepting the responsibility of hosting the match.
The meeting which was held at the VIP Lounge of Godswill Akpabio international stadium today, Monday, was also attended by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism – Sir Charles Udoh, Commissioner for Transport – Mr. Orman Esin, Commissioner for Internal Security – Rtd. General Koko Essien who was represented by DSP Monday Ndueso and the Commissioner for Information and Strategy – Comrade Ini Ememobong who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Akparawa James Edet.
Mr. Uko announced that the Super Eagles’ camp had already opened in the state with the arrival of players, technical crew members and officials expected from today, Monday. While assuring that everything bordering on the successful hosting of the match has been taken care of, the Commissioner also called on Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians to turn up en masse to cheer the Super Eagles on to victory.
Also in attendance were: Executive Board Member of Nigeria Football Federation and South-South representative, Otuekong Nse Essien, the Chairman of Akwa United Football Club and General Coordinator of the State Organizing Committee, Elder Paul Bassey, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, Mrs. Beatrice Udoinyang, the state Director of Sports, Elder Ifiok Duff as well as the Chairman and members of Akwa Ibom state Football Normalization Committee, among others.
