Nigerian club suffers robbery attack on way-back from league match
As announced in a press release by the Nigerian club, Players and officials of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, FC ONE Rocket were on Monday attacked by armed robbers in Ihiala, Anambra State, while returning from Lagos, where they honoured a league game against Ikorodu City last weekend.
The incident, which occurred moments after sunset left some members of the Indomitables robbed of their mobile phones.
Thankfully, no threat to life or injuries were recorded as the attackers fled when bright lights from moving vehicles towards the location of the ugly incident scared the robbers away, thereby halting the operation.
Undeterred by the attack along the Onitsha-Owerri Road, the contingent continued its journey and arrived Uyo same night.
Describing the situation as unfortunate, General Manager, Ubong Essien says the Indomitables are determined to shake off the setback and continue preparation for their upcoming league games.
FC ONE Rocket is a club in Nigeria’s second tier and is based in Akwa Ibom State.
