Nigerian Star Solomon Udo Gets Another Armenia National Team Call-Up

Nigerian-born footballer Solomon Udo has received another call-up to the Armenia national team. He will be part of the squad for their important UEFA Nations League knockout match against Georgia later this month.

Udo was born in Nigeria and grew up in Akwa Ibom before moving to Europe to continue his football career. After switching his international allegiance to Armenia, he has become a key player for their national team. So far, he has made 20 appearances for Armenia. His first-ever start for Armenia was also against Georgia, which makes this upcoming match very special for him.

The 28-year-old midfielder plays for Pyunik Yerevan, the most successful club in Armenia. He is known for his calmness on the ball and his technical ability. Udo will be hoping to make his 21st appearance and help Armenia progress in the Nations League.

Armenia finished second in their group behind North Macedonia, while Georgia came third in their group behind Czech Republic and Ukraine. Now, both teams will face each other over two legs to decide who moves forward in the competition.

The first leg will be played at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Armenia on Thursday, 20 March. The return match will take place in Georgia on Sunday.

Udo’s journey from Akwa Ibom to international football has inspired many young players back home. As he prepares to step onto the pitch again, many Nigerian fans—especially those from Akwa Ibom—will be supporting him from afar.
