Nigerian striker Josh Maja joins West Bromwich Albion
Former Fulham man pens permanent deal with Baggies
Nigerian striker Josh Maja has completed a transfer from Girondins de Bordeaux to Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion on a three-year deal for free this summer.
Maja, 24, ran down his contract in France’s second division with Bordeaux after recording 16 goals and six assists to help them finish third in Ligue 2 last season. The former Fulham, Sunderland and Stoke City star chose to return to England on a permanent basis.
West Brom will be thrilled to have the striker following an Achilles injury to striker Daryl Dike, brother of former Super Falcons star Courtney. Maja will replace Dike in their attacking setup and look to bring his goalscoring form to the Baggies.
The London-born striker was scouted extensively by the Baggies and manager Carlos Corberan played a huge role in his deciding to move to England. The one-cap Super Eagles star will play alongside fellow Nigerian Semi Ajayi at the Hawthorns from the 2023-24 season.
