Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo honoured by former club
Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Odion Ighalo was honoured by his former club Granada CF during their preseason match against Al-Wehda.
In a friendly that ended 1-1 before Granada triumphed 5-4 in a penalty shootout, the La Liga club paid tribute to Ighalo with a special gift. Prior to the match, Ighalo was presented with a framed jersey that included his name and the number of appearances he made for Granada.
The club’s official account shared a video of the ceremony on X, with the message, “Esta siempre será tu casa, @ighalojude,” which means “This will always be your home, @ighalojude.”

In the video, Ighalo was called over during his warm-up and received the framed jersey from a club representative. This gesture highlighted his successful four-year spell with Granada, where he was on loan and made a significant impact.
Ighalo, who is now playing for Al-Wehda, demonstrated his continued prowess by scoring against his former team in the friendly. He later posed with the gift and invited his Al-Wehda teammates to join him for a photo.
During his time at Granada, Ighalo made 132 appearances, scored 38 goals, and provided six assists. After leaving Granada, he played for clubs such as Udinese, Watford, and Manchester United before moving to Saudi Arabia.
