Nigerian teen sensation George Ilenikhena scores on AS Monaco debut

Seventeen-year-old Nigerian prodigy George Ilenikhena has made a remarkable start at AS Monaco, scoring on his debut to help secure a 3-1 victory over Dutch giants Feyenoord.

Monaco’s €20 million transfer fee, was a significant investment to bring Ilenikhena from Belgian side Royal Antwerp, beating competition from top European clubs. This move mirrors the path of Victor Osimhen, who also moved from Belgium to Ligue 1, joining Lille.

Ilenikhena’s debut was marked by an immediate impact, with English-born Nigerian forward Folarin Balogun providing the assist for Ilenikhena’s goal that opened the scoring.

The Nigerian youngster’s performance has delighted Monaco fans and added to the excitement surrounding his potential.

Previously with Royal Antwerp, Ilenikhena made headlines with an impressive tally of 13 goals in 1,246 minutes across all competitions, averaging a goal every 96 minutes.
