Nigerian weightlifter Edidion Umoaffia bags three African games gold medals
Nigeria’s medal haul at the ongoing 13th African Games received a significant major boost as weightlifter Edidiong Umoafia won three gold medals on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Making his debut in the 67kg men category at the games in Ghana, Umoafia won all the three gold medals in snatch, clean & jerk and Total.
The young weightlifter lifted a 135kg in snatch and 165kg in clean and jerk to record a total of 300kg which secured the three gold medals for team Nigeria.
Edidiong Umoaffia’s three gold medal haul means Nigeria’s medal in weightlifting moves to eight after King Kalu (two medals) and Favour (two silver and a bronze medals) brought Nigeria joy on Sunday.
