Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu swaps Copenhagen for Reading FC
Youngster joins League One side on season-long loan
FC Copenhagen winger Paul Mukairu has completed a season-long loan move to English third tier side Reading FC, reuniting with manager Ruben Selles at the Madjeski Stadium.
Mukairu, 23, joined Copenhagen from Antalyapor and shone for the Danish side, winning the Danish League and the Danish Cup in his time at the club. The winger already has 107 appearances to his name in Europe playing for Antalyapor, Anderlecht and Copenhagen. He featured in the UEFA Champions League in the 2022-23 season.
The fleet-footed forward was under the tutelage of Reading manager Selles in his first season in Denmark, with the former Southampton manager an assistant coach at the club at the time. Mukairu will be expected to adapt quickly, having previously played for the manager.
Mukairu will be keen to impress, having seen his minutes dry up in the 2022-23 season, and earn an extension to his contract which is two years from expiry.
