Nigerian youngster Ebenezer Akinsanmiro set to join Sampdoria
Former Remo Stars midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has joined Italian Serie B side US Sampdoria on a season-long loan from Inter Milan.
Initial reports suggested that Akinsanmiro was set to leave San Siro for Sampdoria on a permanent basis but it is a season-long loan per reports in Italy.
Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira has now confirmed that the deal is complete. While Sampdoria initially aimed to secure Akinsanmiro on a permanent transfer with a buy-back clause for Inter Milan, the agreement did not materialize.
The loan move is now pending a medical examination, with an official announcement expected soon.
Akinsanmiro signed a four-year contract with Inter Milan during the 2023 winter transfer window from Nigerian club, Remo Stars.
Although he was an unused substitute in the Coppa Italia final against Fiorentina during the 2022-23 season, where Inter secured their ninth Coppa Italia title, he made his first-team debut on February 25, 2024, in a 4-0 league victory over Lecce, coming on as a substitute for Davide Frattesi in the 76th minute.
This loan move to Sampdoria is intended to provide Akinsanmiro with more first-team opportunities and regular playing time, enhancing his development and gaining valuable experience in Serie B.
