Nigerian Youngster endorses Paul Pogba comparison
For his style of play and versatility in Midfield , Nigerian Youngster Raphael Onyedika is regularly likened to French Midfielder Paul Pogba a comparison he endorses .
Onyedika excelled in the Danish Superliga with Midjtyland last season and was subject of transfer enquiry from AC Milan and two other clubs in Europe before his move to Club Brugge in August 2022 .
Speaking on his style of play and comparison with Pogba , Onyedika said ” I like to win duels and I am also good with the ball at my feet,” he told Belgium’s Voetbal Nieuws.
“Personally, I look up to Paul Pogba. A lot of people say we look alike, but I just want to be the best version of myself.”
Onyedika is versatile in Midfield and can play in a number of midfield roles like his role model Paul Pogba.
Onyedika was named the best Young player in Denmark last year and was not short of suitors in the transfer window but settled for Club Brugge .
On his decision to join Club Brugge from a host of prospective suitors , the Super Eagle hanged his choice on a desire to win everything with the best team in Belgium .
“I chose Club Brugge because they are the best team in Belgium and because they want to win everything. I also want to win everything, so that’s a good combination. I have also heard that Club Brugge has the best supporters in Belgium. ” Onyedika said .
The 21 year old Midfielder could make his UEFA Champions League bow for Club Brugge when they face Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday September 5, 2022 .
