Nigerians Abroad; Ajayi scores two to break a jinx, Mikel lose again, Onuachu & Etebo missing

Apart from John Obi Mikel the rest of the listed above Nigerian players avoided defeat on Wednesday.

Semi Ajayi (Rotherham)

Semi Ajayi was again the hero in Rotherham 2-1 away win against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Wednesday.

The Super Eagles defender turned midfielder scored a goal in the in 71st minute but another Nigerian, Bright Osayi-Samuel cancelled his strike in the 85th minute.

Semi Ajayi however, scored the winning goal with a header in the 94th minute to help Rotherham win their first away championship game this season and their first in nearly three years.

Mikel Obi (Middlesbrough)

Mikel Obi was on the pitch for the entire game but was unable to rescue Boro as they fell 2-1 to Preston North End at Riverside on Wednesday.

Boro scored first but we’re pegged back twice after Daniel Ayala had been sent off for Middlesbrough.

They had their chances to equalize but failed to take their chances, hence, Mikel and Middlesbrough lost another game after defeat to Brentford last week.

Paul Onuachu (Midtjylland )

Paul Onuachu was an unsed sub as Midtjylland win 2-0 in a Danish Cup quarterfinal game against Kolding IF.

The Nigerian will be up when his side play in Danish league this weekend as they pile pressure on Copenhagen for the title.

Oghenekaro Etebo (Stoke City )

Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was again missing in action as Stoke held Frank Lampard’s Derby County to a 0-0.

He is out with an injury but could be back this weekend.
