Nigerians SLAM man who blamed Napoli`s UCL exit on Osimhen honouring Super Eagles invitation
He goes by the name Coach Uni Dan Kakwi on Social media. Nigerians have slammed the sports opinion holder for his article which blamed Napoli`s Champions league loss to AC Milan on Osimhen honouring Super Eagles invitation for the double-header vs Guinea-Bissau in March.
The Napoli forward reported back from International duty with injury which forced him out of his clubs 1-0 UEFA Champions League 1st-leg loss, a result Uni Dan Kakwi believes would have been different if Osimhen had rejected the Nigerian call-up to stay fresh to be part of it.
In his article tagged ” What Osimhen should have considered ” , Coach Uni Dan Kakwi wrote ” This should be a case study for top Nigerian players moving forward atleast deciding feasible outcomes from football global scale of preference.
” I just feel Osimhen ruined this season for himself. He has a big shot of playing at the Champions league final_ All he needed to do was to stay in italy & be fresh to play the two leg against Milan Unfortunately, he missed the first leg against Milan due to the half baked double leg African cup of nations qualifier against Guinea.
” Significantly, the inconsequential Guinea Bissau match is meaningless to me in rating If he doesn’t play that match, heaven would not fall .. if he was at that first leg, they might probably get a draw or even win, but it is what it is now ..
” Goodluck to him, now that he is hot .. this is the time for him to win trophies.
” What do you think ? ” he asked in conclusion.
Ninety percent of the respondents on the article slammed the writer for his thoughts.
While some were concerned about his double-standard following his stance that Osimhen was not committed to the Nigerian National team when in 2022, the striker excused himself from the Eagles for an international friendly game, others dismissed his opinion because according to them, getting injured was part of football and honouring National team call-ups for a Cup of Nations qualifiers cannot be described as insignificant.
SOME OF THE RESPONSES
@Faith Christian ” Sometime in 2022, Osimhen excused himself from the National team for a friendly game with injury and you put up an article blaming him of not being committed to the National team, now you are saying he shouldn’t have come for the AFCON qualifiers vs Guinea-Bissau, do you just write for writing sake or you just want to sound controversial ?
@Wing S ” I think representing your country is the most important honor to bestow on a player, more important at times than trophies and money. He followed his heart and will always be respected by his country. Clubs come and go, your country, your home is your heritage, and this is forever.
@Raheem Kabir Kaybee ” The injury that led to him using mask, did it got it when playing for Nigeria? Was it not in Napoli he got that or don’t you know series of injuries he has sustain at Napoli now using this one as an excuse for his team failure. are u even encouraging him to continue honouring his country or should be choosing his club ahead of his country.
I dont expect this from you sir .”
@Inyang Bassey ” AC MILAN was technically and tactically the better side on both occasions. The coach of the Naples side simply had no answer to the tactical nous on display by Milan who were content with having Napoli have the ball and negligible chances in the 6′ yard box. We can’t be assured that Osimhen’s participation in the first leg will guarantee a victory for the Naples side as such assumptions are preposterous………you have forgotten Milan had a psychological edge over Napoli , having defeated them 4:0 in a league duel this season. Add that to the fact that Milan has a richer Champions League history ( one of the best in the world) and are defending Champions of Serie A…..too many things were going for Milan.
@HamzaMustapha ” Waiting for your next article Sir, this one has no meaning . ”
@Loveday Isaac ” Because it is Osimhen and Nigeria . Things we read on social media. Like will you advice an English player to turn down invitation to play for the England National team because his club has a Champions League match next month. This is an insult on the Nigeria National team please.
@Isreal Johnson ” Very shameful to know someone who claims to be an advocate for football development in Nigeria will say the AFCON qualifiers vs Guinea-Bissau was insignificant. Like, what if Nigeria lost both games and eventually failed to qualify for the 2023 AFCON, I cannot imagine the abuse Osimhen will get from you. Delete the source of this unpatriotic thought please.”
