Nigeria’s Anams Lillian wins Benin Republic Women’s League title
Nigerian goalkeeper Anams Lillian has won the 2022/2023 Benin Republic Women’s League title with Sam Nelly FC SportsRation reports.
The former Ibom Angels FC of Uyo goalkeeper was near perfect during the regular season and the Championship playoff to secure the Benin Republic Women’s League title win for Sam Nelly FC.
Anams Lillian joined the league champions before the start of the season in December 2022.
During the regular season, the Nigerian goalie kept six clean sheets in seven games for Coach Hounkponou Frederic tutored Sam Nelly FC to secure a place in the playoffs.
Anams Lillian continued her impressive run at the playoff, to help Sam Nelly FC win seven of the eight games she played to beat second placed Espoir FC to the league title.
Sam Nelly FC will go ahead to represent Benin Republic in the 2023/2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, a maiden continental appearance for the Nigerian goalie.
Ivory Coast will host the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League but to be one of eight teams at the finals, the Benin Republic Women’s League Champions must first of all overcome the challenges at the Zonal playoffs.
Reacting to her maiden League title triumph the goalkeeper took to her Social media handle with a message of gratitude to God alongside photos from the title celebration.
