Nigeria’s D’Tigers prepare for 2025 FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers
After failing to qualify for the Paris Olympics games, the D’Tigers will look to hit positive ground when the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket qualifiers gets underway.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers are preparing for the challenge expected in their way to the 2025 FIBA championship.
The qualifiers scheduled for February and November will determine the teams that will compete in Africa’s premier men’s basketball competition.
The draw has divided the 16 participating teams into five groups, with each consisting of four teams.
Leading Group A is South Sudan, who will also be competing at the Olympics, along with Mali and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Group B includes Mauritius and Comoros, the winners of the pre-qualifiers in Zone 6.
Meanwhile, Group C sees Senegal, the 2021 bronze medalists, facing off against Cameroon, Rwanda, and the winner of the Zones 3 and 4 pre-qualification tournament.
Cape Verde, ranked first in Group B, will be joined by Nigeria, Uganda, and the winner of the Zones 1 and 2 pre-qualifiers.
Additionally, Group D features dominant teams from Zone 5, Egypt, Central Africa Republic, and the winner of the pre-qualifier between Zone 5 contenders Madagascar and Djibouti, along with silver medalists from the last edition, Cote D’Ivoire.
Finally, in Group E, defending champion Tunisia will contend with Angola, Guinea, and Kenya, with each team aiming to secure a spot in the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket tournament.
