Nigeria’s Victor Boniface beaten to Bundesliga award by Serhou Guirassy

Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface alongside three others have been beaten to the German Bundesliga September Player of the month award by Serhou Guirassy.

Recall that the Nigerian International was named Bundesliga Player of the month for August 2023 and returned on the list for September with Bayern Munich duo, Harry Kane and Leroy Sane, Alejandro Grimaldo, Chris Fuhrich and eventual winner, Serhou Guirassy.

As announced on the German Bundesliga official website on Thursday, October 19, in-form Guinea and VFB Stuggart forward, Serhou Guirassy was the best player in September, 2023.

To scale through the two layer process, VfB Stuttgart’s goal machine Serhou Guirassy ended September as the Bundesliga’s leading scorer with 10 goals.

Guirassy started all of his side’s games in September – and needless to say his seven goals in the month and one assist made him the league’s leading September scorer and the man with the most goal involvements.

For a player who had struggled early in his career, a superb start to the season has helped his confidence skyrocket as the key pillar in a sensational Stuttgart attack.

The 27-year old had a direct involvement in more shots than any other Bundesliga player in September (33 – taking 18 shots and setting up 15).

The Guinea international also broke new Bundesliga grounds by becoming just the second player in league history to score as many as 10 goals after five matchdays of a season.

Robert Lewandowski was the only man previously to manage that in his historic 41-goal season of 2020/21.

For Victor Boniface, his performances at Bayer Leverkusen earned him a second German Bundesliga rookie of the month award.
