‘ Nnadozie will remain Super Falcons first choice for the next ten years ‘ – Ex-Super Falcons goalie predicts
Ex Super Falcons goalkeeper Rachael Ayegba has predicted Chiamaka Nnadozie will remain Nigeria’s first choice in the next ten years.
This is in recognition of the 22-year old shot-stopper’s impressive performances at the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup where the Super Falcons kept two clean sheets in three group stage matches.
In a conversation with BBC Sport Africa, the Ex-Super Falcon spoke about the goalkeepers’ performances and how much she admires Nnadozie’s goalkeeping ability.
Rachael Ayegba said “As a former goalkeeper, I always concentrate on what the keepers are doing. You can see how they are going to perform from the body language.”
” I’ve been watching Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays for Paris FC. She has this self-belief which I’m really excited about. If she stays fit then the country has a goalkeeper for the next 10 years.”
On the defensively disciplined display by the Super Falcons of Nigeria to keep clean sheets vs Canada and Ireland in an unbeaten group stage run, Ayegba confessed to being proud of the Nnadozie and her teammates.
“Her (Nnadozie) penalty save against Canada was so important, as was the fact that we kept a clean sheet.”
“I’m so proud of the team defensively and the goalkeeper. The fact that people in Nigeria were comparing her to the men’s goalkeepers is really interesting and good to see.” she concluded.
