NNL Announces Date for 2026/27 AGM in Owerri

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has confirmed Friday, August 21, 2026, as the date for its 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM), with Owerri, Imo State, set to host the gathering of Nigeria’s football stakeholders.

The NNL said the AGM will be held ahead of the 2026/27 season, with all 36 participating clubs expected to converge on Owerri from Thursday, August 20, before departing on Saturday, August 22.

NNL Chief Operating Officer, Danlami Alanana, confirmed that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, had approved the state’s hosting of the AGM.

“We are delighted that the sports-loving Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has magnanimously approved NNL’s request to host our AGM in Owerri. This is one of the most important events in our calendar,” Alanana said.

The venue for the AGM in Owerri is yet to be announced, with the NNL Secretariat expected to communicate the details to the clubs in due course. Clubs have, however, been advised to take note of the confirmed date and host state.

Top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by President Ibrahim Gusau and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, are expected to attend the meeting.

Key issues expected to dominate discussions include the roadmap for the 2026/27 NNL season, club licensing regulations, as well as possible amendments to the league’s rules and regulations.

Alanana also praised Governor Uzodimma for supporting football and sports development in Imo State.

The 16th NNL AGM was hosted by the Kaduna State Government and held at the 5th Chukker Resort in Maraban Jos, Kaduna State.
