NNL Super 8: Heartland FC shoot down Rockets to close in on Premier League return

Heartland FC defeated FC ONE Rocket 1-0 at the NNL Super 8 playoffs to shoot down their opponents promotion hopes while closing in on Premier League return.

An improved Heartland FC performance from the opening day 0-0 draw vs Abeokuta Stormers stifled all attempts by FC ONE Rocket at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on matchday two of the Nigeria National League Super 8 playoff.

Olasunkanmi Quadri fired Heartland FC to victory with a curling effort in the 15th minute before going off with injury 12 minutes later.

FC ONE Rocket threatened the Heartland FC goal on multiple occasions but were denied by goalkeeper Chisom Chiagha to hand Coach Christian Obi’s men a massive boost ahead of their matchday three clash vs Sporting Lagos FC.

For the Rockets, their hopes of securing one of four Nigeria Premier League slots at the 2022/2023 Nigeria National League Super 8 playoff ends with this result.

Coach Ndubisi Ndah tutored FC ONE Rocket suffered a 1-0 loss vs Sporting Lagos FC on Matchday One before today’s defeat vs Heartland FC to stay bottom of the Southern Conference with no points.

On Matchday three, FC ONE Rocket will face Abeokuta Stormers FC while Sporting Lagos FC and Heartland FC will do battle in the afternoon fixture.
