NNL Super 8: Yobe Desert Stars Stage Late Comeback to Stun Doma United
Yobe Desert Stars came from behind to beat Doma United 2 to 1 in an exciting Nigeria National League Super Eight match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Monday.
Doma United took the lead early when John Zauka scored in the 17th minute. The goal gave the team from Gombe control of the match during most of the first half, as they aimed to secure a vital win in the push for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Yobe Desert Stars stayed focused and kept pressing for an equaliser. Their hard work paid off in the second half when Yakubu Abdullahi scored to make it 1 to 1, giving his side a lifeline in the promotion race.
With only five minutes left, Umar Idris scored the winning goal for Yobe Desert Stars in the 85th minute. The victory gave Yobe all three points and pushed them closer to a return to top flight football for the first time since 2019.
Yobe Desert Stars have one more match to play against Wikki Tourists. A good result in that game could confirm their promotion.
Group A Wide Open After Second Round of Matches
