‘No winner’ – Paul Pogba reacts to his brother’s sentence for extortion
Fench soccer star Paul Pogba has spoken about his feelings after his brother, Mathias Pogba, was sentenced for attempting to extort him.
The case, involving close family and childhood friends, has been difficult for the French footballer. Mathias Pogba was sentenced to three years in prison, with two years suspended, after being found guilty of extortion, holding someone against their will, and being part of a criminal group.
Five of Paul Pogba’s childhood friends were also involved, with one receiving an eight-year sentence for his role in the crime.
After the trial ended, Paul Pogba shared his emotions with AFP. He said there was no feeling of victory in the case, which involved his family and childhood friends. “There is no winner,” he explained. “It has been a very painful situation.”
Although he acknowledged some relief that the ordeal was over, he said it was a chance for everyone to look ahead. “I can now finally turn the page on this extremely painful time,” he added.
Paul Pogba, who is currently without a club, is excited to return to football. His doping ban was reduced to 18 months on appeal, and he will be able to train starting January 1. He can return to playing competitive matches on March 1.
With his contract at Juventus now finished, Pogba is eager to start a new chapter in his football career.
