Not Amunike! NFF Technical Committee wants another foreign coach for Super Eagles
Contrary to trending reports that Emmanuel Amunike has been appointed Super Eagles head coach, the NFF Technical Committee wants another foreign coach for Nigeria National team.
According to a report by DAILY POST, the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suggested that an expatriate coach should replace Jose Peseiro as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
Sources within the NFF revealed that the committee has communicated its recommendation to the executive committee of the federation. Additionally, they have provided a list of potential candidates for the position.
Among the top contenders are Domenec Torrent, a former assistant to Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, and Antonio Conceicao, the former head coach of Cameroon’s national team.
The recommendation comes with the condition that the NFF must have the financial capacity to afford the salary of any foreign coach.
However, the technical committee has also given the executive board the option to consider hiring a Nigerian coach if the funds for an expatriate coach are not available. If this happens, then Amunike will land the job.
