Nottingham Forest Join Race to Sign Super Eagles Star Ademola Lookman
Two-time UEFA Champions League winners Nottingham Forest have joined several top clubs in the race to sign Ademola Lookman, who plays for Atalanta and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The 2024 CAF Player of the Year is enjoying another fine season in Italy, scoring 18 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions, despite dealing with injuries. This makes it his second-best season in terms of goals and assists.
Many clubs are showing interest in the 27-year-old, as this could be his final season under manager Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta.
Last summer, Paris Saint-Germain showed interest in the former Fulham winger, but the move didn’t happen. PSG later signed Desire Doue from Rennes and Kvaratskhelia from Napoli instead. According to reports, the French champions are now no longer interested in Lookman, as they have enough players in wide positions.
Now, Nottingham Forest are said to be very keen on signing Lookman. The club wants to qualify for the Champions League, which would make their offer more attractive to the Nigerian forward. A fee of around £43 million could be enough to bring him to the City Ground.
However, Forest are not alone. Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing Lookman. The winger, who was born and raised in London, is believed to be open to returning home.
Aston Villa are another club linked with Lookman, although their top transfer targets are Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford. If they fail to sign either of those players, Lookman could become a strong option.
After previous spells at Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City, Lookman may want to prove himself again in the Premier League, especially now that he has found success at Atalanta.
His contract with the Italian club runs out in 2026, but with no new deal in sight, Atalanta may choose to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
