Nottingham Forest Lead Race to Sign African Star Ademola Lookman

Nottingham Forest are reportedly leading the race to sign reigning African Footballer of the Year, Ademola Lookman, in the summer transfer window.

According to Football Insider, the Atalanta forward is attracting strong interest from three Premier League clubs—Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and West Ham United. However, West Ham’s inability to offer Champions League football next season puts them at a disadvantage.

Forest, currently third in the Premier League with nine games left, are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of a potential Champions League campaign. To sign Lookman, they may have to break their transfer record, which currently stands at £35 million for Elliott Anderson from Newcastle.

Lookman’s versatility—being able to play on both wings, as a centre-forward, or as a playmaker—makes him an exciting option for Forest. His impressive performances in Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifiers further highlight his attacking threat.

Tensions with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini, following a missed penalty in a Champions League match against Club Brugge, have fuelled speculation that Lookman is set to leave the Italian club. Since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022, he has netted 50 goals in 110 appearances.

A return to the Premier League could now be on the horizon for the former Everton, Leicester City, and Fulham star.
