Novak Djokovic faces challenging Shanghai Masters path

The draw for the Shanghai Masters has been announced, and Novak Djokovic is set to face a challenging path in the tournament.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner has only played 40 matches this year, and his last match was in August when he lost in the third round of the US Open.

Novak Djokovic has confirmed he will play in the Shanghai Masters for the first time since 2019. The tournament will run from October 2 to October 13. Djokovic has a bye in the first round and will face either Alex Michelsen or Yunchaokete Bu in the second round.

If Djokovic progresses, he could meet Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals and No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals. Djokovic leads Zverev 8-4 in their previous matchups, including their last meeting in the 2023 Cincinnati Open semi-final, where Djokovic won 7-6, 7-5.

Novak Djokovic, a four-time champion in Shanghai, will aim for a fifth title at the event.
