Novak Djokovic has announced that he is stepping away from the Professional Tennis Players Association, the player advocacy group he co-founded in 2020.
In a statement shared on social media(Twitter), Djokovic explained his decision clearly:
“After careful consideration, I have decided to step away completely from the Professional Tennis Players Association… after ongoing concerns regarding transparency, governance, and the way my voice and image have been represented.”
While Djokovic stressed that he remains proud of the original vision behind the PTPA, he made it clear that he no longer feels aligned with its current direction.
Fans reacted quickly, with many praising his principles rather than questioning the decision. Some called him the GOAT for choosing integrity over influence, others thanked him for standing up for players’ rights, while a few admitted they briefly feared the announcement meant retirement. The dominant tone was relief and respect.
Djokovic, for now, remains firmly focused on tennis.
