Novak Djokovic to Start 2025 Season at Brisbane International
Novak Djokovic will begin the new tennis season at the Brisbane International, a warm-up tournament for the Australian Open.
“I’m excited to start my Australian swing at the Brisbane International and compete again at Pat Rafter Arena,” Djokovic said. The Serbian star will also aim to secure his 100th tour-level title during the tournament.
This will be Djokovic’s second time playing in Brisbane. His first appearance was in 2009 when he lost to Ernests Gulbis in the opening round.
The Brisbane International will take place from December 29 to January 5. Other notable players in the competition include Grigor Dimitrov, Holger Rune, Frances Tiafoe, and Nick Kyrgios.
Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam champion and holds the record for the most weeks as the world’s No. 1-ranked player.
Last month, he announced that Andy Murray would join his coaching team for the Australian Open, a tournament Djokovic has won a record 10 times.
The 37-year-old Djokovic won only one tournament in 2024, but it was a historic victory. He claimed his first Olympic gold medal at the Paris Games in August.
The Australian Open is set to begin on January 12, where Djokovic will aim to extend his legacy as one of the greatest players in tennis history.
