NPFL champions stutter once again, held by Wikki

NPFL 2019/20 log leaders, Plateau United continued their abysmal run of form in 2020/21 when they visited Wikki Tourist FC at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Tuesday in a Matchday Two fixture of the 2020/21 NPFL season. They struggled to come away from the game with a drab goalless draw against a Wikki side that had lost 2-1 on the opening day to Nasarawa United.

The game came a week after the management of Plateau United punished the players with a pay cut as a result of their poor performances over their past games. It however appeared that the action did little to motivate the players as they struggled to create anything meaningful against their Bauchi-based opponents, and had the frame of the goal to thank for the clean sheet as Wikki went for the jugular.

Plateau United would look to get back on track quickly and to do that, they have to start scoring goals. They have failed to score a single goal in 4 games over 2 competitions so far this season. They would however take the positive of having picked up a point, one that can help kickstart their campaign.
