NPFL club Ikorodu City signs Nordic Academy striker ThankGod Chilaka
Ikorodu City FC has bolstered their attacking options by signing promising young striker ThankGod Chilaka on a two-year loan deal from Nordic Football Academy.
The Lagos-based club announced the move with a statement on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Welcome to Ikorodu City, Chilaka ThankGod. The striker joins us from Nordic Football Club on a two-year deal.”
Nordic Football Academy also confirmed the transfer on their Facebook page, expressing their excitement about the opportunity for their standout talent. “We are happy to confirm that our striker, Chilaka ThankGod, has joined NPFL side Ikorodu City FC on a loan agreement for two seasons. We look forward to sharing in his golden moments at the Lagos-based outfit,” the statement read.
ThankGod Chilaka, who has been a standout performer for Nordic Football Academy, has caught the attention of several top clubs in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) following his impressive performances in the Nationwide League One season. Known for his physical strength, powerful shots, and goal-scoring prowess, Chilaka has quickly become one of the most sought-after young talents in Nigerian football.
Chilaka’s stellar form this season has attracted interest not only from domestic clubs but also from two unidentified foreign clubs. Despite a successful trial with Akwa United, Chilaka opted for a move to Ikorodu City FC after receiving multiple offers from leading clubs in the South-West region of Nigeria.
The young striker’s arrival at Ikorodu City is anticipated to significantly strengthen the team’s attacking lineup ahead of the 2024/2025 NPFL season.
