NPFL returns with mouth-watering fixtures in Matchday 20
Kwara United set to visit Nasarawa United as Ahmed Musa looks set to make second Pillars debut
The Nigerian Professional Football League is set to return after its mid-season break with Matchday 20 fixtures set to hold across different centres in the country on the 8th and 9th of May.
In Saturday’s only fixture, Jigawa Golden Stars host Lobi Stars at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna as both sides look to pick up the maximum points from their opening fixture of the second stanza.
On Sunday, FC Ifeanyi Ubah host MFM FC. The home side will be looking to build on an impressive draw against Enyimba during the week and climb out of the relegation zone in the league. MFM on the other hand need to win to stay out of relegation troubles.
Akwa United welcome Sunshine Stars to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. It will be interesting to see how the Promise Keepers fare without talisman and top scorer, Ndifreke Effiong when they host the struggling Akure Gunners in Uyo. Sunshine Stars will be hoping the break was enough to end their terrible run in the league and be looking to avoid relegation troubles.
Rivers United welcome Dakkada FC to their slaughterhouse, the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. The Pride of Rivers have won all 9 of their matches at the stadium this season, and will be looking to make Dakkada their 10th victims.
Rangers International host Enyimba FC in a rescheduled Matchday 19 encounter at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu in one of the biggest derbies in Nigerian football. Both sides know how important three points will be for them at this stage of the season.
Nasarawa United host leaders, Kwara United at the Lafia Township Stadium with the aim of putting a dent on the Afonja Warriors’ title push and also avenging their defeat in Ilorin last time out.
Katsina United welcome Wikki Tourists to the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium as they look to navigate their way out of the relegation zone following their appointment of a new coach during the break.
Struggling Warri Wolves host Kano Pillars at the Ozoro Poly Stadium. Pillars know that a win would put them in a good position to top the table and will be looking to win against the relegation threatened Seasiders.
