NPFL Super Six: Day three of draws – Summary
All three games of matchday three of the Nigeria Premier Football League Super Six Playoffs ended in draws. SPORTSRATION presents a summary.
BENDEL INSURANCE 1-1 ENYIMBA FC
Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten run record this season to 21 games on Wednesday as they came from behind to hold Enyimba FC to a 1-1 draw on matchday three of the NPFL Super Six Championship.
The game was a must-win for both teams and so witnessed multiple chances from both ends.
Enyimba FC People’s scored first in the 23rd minute from Sadiq Abubakar fired home from outside the area but Divine Nwachukwu headed Bendel Insurance level in the 37th minute.
REMO STARS 1-1 SUNSHINE STARS
The Southwest derby between Remo Stars and Sunshine Stars ended in a 1-1 draw.
Both teams are without a win at the NPFL Super Six Championship and so needed victory in the 4pm kickoff to push their chase for the title.
Anakwe fired Remo Stars ahead in the 12th minute but Emmanuel L. levelled scores for Sunshine Stars just after the break to level the contest.
Both Coaches rang the changes in a bid to get the match-winner but it wasn’t to be as it finished Remo Stars 1-1 Sunshine Stars.
LOBI STARS 0-0 RIVERS UNITED FC
After the first two games had ended i stalemates, a huge opportunity was presented before Lobi Stars and Rivers United FC to advance their course at the NPFL Super Six Championship playoffs.
Both teams toilde in vain search of goals at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos on Wednesday June &.
At the expiration of regulation time, there was nothing to separate Lobi Stars and Rivers United as it finished 0-0.
AS IT STANDS
With all three games ending in stalemates on matchday three, there will be no changes to the shape of the standings.
With two games to go, Enyimba FC retain top spot with 5-points, same as second placed Rivers United FC.
Remo Stars ae placed third with 3-points while Bendel Insurance share same points tally in 4th place.
Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars occupy 5th and 6th spots respectively with 2-points.
